The Perq does not accept or process insurance. Patients pay a reasonable fee at the time of service for medical and surgical dermatology. For patients who can seek reimbursement, we’ll provide documentation, called a SuperBill, which patients upload to their insurer. The insurance company then reimburses the patient directly.
We work for our patients, not insurance companies.

Processing insurance consumes a massive amount of clinic resources: the doctor’s time, and hiring staff that would only deal with insurance. Without insurance, our staff can be dedicated to your goals and your experience. It reduces the number of patients we need to see daily, allowing us to spend more time with each client.

Direct pay reduces administrative costs and passes savings onto patients. You know upfront what you will pay - no hidden bills or surprises. Patients with high deductibles or no insurance will find our fees lower than typical out-of-pocket costs.

Patients are seen by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Sarah Sung, without referral hassles or network restrictions. Dr. Sung takes the time to address all concerns, ensuring patients leave with no unanswered questions. Her priority is what’s best for you, free from insurance company conflicts.

Labs and pathology are handled by third parties, and can be covered by insurance. If these are required, we’ll collect your insurance information, and coordinate this work through to communicating the results to you.

While we provide all the necessary information you’d need to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, because of the breadth of different providers we can’t set accurate expectations for how much you’ll be reimbursed.
To reduce anxiety around this, we advise our prospective patients to contact their insurance providers and ask these two questions:
“I am considering a direct-pay medical dermatologist. The office will issue me a SuperBill, which include things like the provider's NPI, EIN, and CPT and ICD-10 codes from my visit. What kind of reimbursement should I expect?”
"Is there a form I need to complete when I submit this SuperBill, and where, specifically, on your website do I upload this for processing?"

Unfortunately, to pursue this model, Medicare regulations required Dr. Sung to withdraw from Medicare. This means Medicare and Medicare Advantage patients cannot submit our invoices for reimbursement. However, the vast majority of Dr. Sung’s Medicare patients have continued to see her and feel they receive excellent value because she can do such a thorough job with their medical concerns.

By Washington law, Medicaid members cannot self-pay for services covered by Medicaid. We can only offer cosmetic treatments to Medicaid patients.
